So guess what happened to my husbands old wooden step ladder?
I needed to give my garden a little gift this summer and thought the old ladder would make a lovely planter .......
I painted it a while back in a blue PVA paint and all I needed to finish up with were some terracotta pots!
I couldn't find affordable terracotta pots in the little town we were living in at the time - but since our move to the City I have found pots and (yay!) now I can share this post with you

The ladder....
Painting the ladder was easy. You can decide how you want to paint yours. You can give it a distressed look or paint it with as many coats as you like to give it a complete smooth finish.
I didn't seal my paint because I want it to look weathered.
Then, once the painting of the ladder is done, position your pots and attach them to the steps.

Hubby attached the pots to the steps of the ladder for me. Note from hubby -Don't over tighten the screws as this will cause the pots to crack.
first screw in on the pot to the right, just so you can see what it looks like....
once all your pots are fixed to the steps you can fill them. I first filled the pots halfway with potting soil, added the seedlings and then added more soil to cover the roots and fill up the pots.
Now all I need to do is wait for the seedlings to grow!
It will take you about a day to complete this easy DIY project. All you going to need is:
*A wooden ladder
*PVA Paint
*Some Terracotta
pots (or use tins)
*Timber screws and washers
*Some potting soil and pretty flowers
So what are you waiting for? go haul out that old ladder in the garage and give your garden a gift this summer!
Happy DIY-ing peeps!
