Last Sunday while it was raining outside , my creative juices were flowing. The house was quiet, everyone busy doing their own thing and me, well, I needed to decorate! :))
I have a small area across my guest toilet that needed some pretty....ill share it in a minute, but let me briefly share what I've learnt on decorating small spaces .
Small spaces are very easy to decorate and light on the budget but at the same time one needs to be cautious not to over do it, making a room look cluttered.
Here are some pointers to consider:
*When adding tables, whether it be a coffee table, side tables or dinning room tables, opt for glass. This will make the area you need the table in look more open in that you see through them onto the next item in the room.
Opt for round rather that square if the space is very limited. This makes movement in the room easier.
*Add a new carpet or a rug to the floor in a bright color or interesting pattern.
*Ornaments should be grouped. Grouping makes it neat and makes it look un-cluttered. Don't over-do ornaments in small spaces, in my opinion 'less is more'
*Use a wall as a feature and make a wall gallery. You don't have to use only photographs, make it interesting, you can spice it up a little by sourcing ANYTHING in and around your house to put onto you wall gallery, -small mirrors, an empty frame or two, a clock or two, loose wooden lettering, an ore you may have picked up at the beach, or an old wooden window frame, absolutely ANYTHING that you are sentimental about can go up on a gallery wall, and don't be afraid to go right up to the ceiling and cover wall to wall from left to right. Just keep the spacing between each item the same.
*Use a large chunky piece of furniture like a single 3 seater, rather than a bunch of smaller pieces.
Go for a bright color fabric or interesting pattern. In a bedroom, a huge 4poster bed will make a stunning statement!
*Pot plants in beautiful pot plant holders make lovely decorations for side tables.
*family photos in standing frames are also affordable and tell a story giving the room a personal touch.
SO, back to my small space,
I want to use the floor space as well as the two windows to make it pretty.

SO, back to my small space,
I want to use the floor space as well as the two windows to make it pretty.
First I sourced some things around the house that I already had in other places in the house. (I like doing this) use what you have! :) There we go...can you guess where it all went?
Top window....
Bottom window....
Floor...
The final picture....
...... This small space just got all pretty!
Keep working on your small spaces friends, and let me know how it went. Happy decorating!!
