If painting a whole room out is not in your budget, and your'e desperate for a change, then why not paint just one wall? Not only is this an affordable way to change the look of a room but also often really all you need!
Most small hardware stores have cans of paint on sale due to a wrong order or customers that weren't happy with the choice of color. It then goes on sale! So always ask before ordering your paint if there are any of these avaliable, there may just be a tin of paint in the color you like for a fabulous discount!
So I decided my sitting room needed painting.....
The walls in this house are white at the moment, and this is not the most practical color, we seem to have to wash these walls on a weekly basis! Here
is the wall I decided to paint.
A single painted wall becomes a feature, so choose a wall that will make the biggest impression in your home.
This is the wall that Won!! .

Prepping the area before you paint is very important, it makes your paint job less stressful! firstly clear the area, remove all furniture and curtains, you don't want any paint spills! Lay plastic on the floor under the wall that will be painted and tape up areas that you don't want paint on, like the skirtings and the ceiling. This is time consuming so remember to take this into consideration when you set the day aside for a paint job, if you like me you cant wait to see the end result, so try doing this the day before.
First coat of paint done! I chose grey as it is very complimentry to the white walls in my home and generally a very nice color that will blend in with anything really.....

Next thing to tackle was the mirror! This morror is about 10years old and today Its getting a new look! Mirrors are a very good way of adding something to a wall as feature without busting the bank! :) I find spray paint easy to use on frames because its quick and easy to apply and it will dry in record time. Again there is a little prepping involved, you need to close up the mirror part, I used news paper and masking tape on mine. Make sure it is covered up well, otherwise you will end up with some of the spray on the mirror! Not cool!
I set the mirror down on some bricks outside on the lawn and Easy as pie! Mirror has a new coat of white spray paint!
Here we go, all furniture is back, I did change things around a little, added the other wingback chair and moved the small white side table to the front of the window.
The scatter cushions were on chairs in my patio room, but my dogs enjoyed lying on them, LOL, so I decided to move them in here and I like it this way!
Just a tip; If you use scatter cushions in your home, try moving them around to different areas of your house, moving them around makes them brand new again! :)
